If marrying in a church, you will in most cases need to be married by a Priest or Minister.
By using a Civil Marriage Celebrant, you are able to have your ceremony anywhere that is comfortable to you and perhaps has special meaning.
The park where you first met, your back yard. a beach, or a jetty are some examples of popular outdoor locations.
Halls, specialist Wedding/Reception venues and even football clubs are some of the indoor locations that can be used.
If choosing an outdoor setting, it may pay to do some research first.
For example, Pelican Park at Clontarf on Brisbane's north side is a beautiful location, but at 10am, local residents and visitors gather to feed the pelicans. Not a good time to have your ceremony there!
Some public places can be booked with the local council. There is no fee at the moment, but by booking, you ensure that the venue is yours to use at the time you want.
Remember, if planning an outdoor wedding, have a backup plan in case of bad weather!
